Turn single pumps into an intelligent WiFi interface

Single Pump Wireless is a solution for integrating a single pump in your clinical IT. You can upgrade your existing Space pump to a wireless device by replacing the battery module of the pump with the new SP battery pack with WiFi. A wireless transmitter and a single chip computer are integrated in this battery pack, offering nearly all of the features related to a WiFi connection.

Five steps to increase medication safety

Prescription
Step 1 prescription: Physician order entry in a computerized physician order entry system (CPOE). The information is required for compounding and labeling.
Step 2 admixture & labeling: the drug will be prepared and the syringe/bag of the drug will be labeled with the barcode information containing patient, drug and dosage data.
Scanning
Step 3 scanning: at the point-of-care the syringes/bags and the patient’s wrist band will be scanned. The receiving IV pump checks if the patient data of the medication labels and the wrist band are matching.
Check data & start
Step 4 check data & start: In case the information is valid the scanned data is displayed on the IV pump. After the manual confirmation by the nurse, the infusion can be started. Additionally, DoseGuard limits within the internal IV pump drug library can be used to extend the barcode data with additional information.

Step 5 documentation: all data can be transferred automatically into a clinical documentation system.

B. Braun follows the IHE PCD standards in communicating with and connecting to healthcare partners:

The Space DoseLink IHE Interfaces will extend the functionality of the Space system by allowing interaction with third-party applications through transactions defined within the Patient Care Devices (PCD) domain of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE).
