It all began in 1839, when Julius Wilhelm Braun bought the Rose Pharmacy in Melsungen. The challenges have changed since the early 19th century. But then, and now, our goals are: create innovations in medical therapies and recognise what is important during exchanges with customers and partners. In six generations, the enterprise has developed into a global company with subsidiaries on every continent. The brand B. Braun is synonymous with high-quality products, which have gained universal acceptance by the medical profession for many decades.
With over 800 employees in South Africa, B. Braun Medical specialises in the sales and logistics of medical devices, surgical instruments, consumables, pharmaceuticals and is one of the country's leading and fastest growing operations of dialysis clinics. The Head Office is situated in Northriding, north of Randburg in Johannesburg and the building incorporates a warehouse facility. Giant Leap designed B. Braun’s head office with custom-designed, laser-cut glass panels in B. Braun’s signature greens, which adorns the chic reception area and added a sophisticated edge to the entire space.

The South African company’s activities are subdivided into four separate Product Divisions:-
Hospital Care:
Disposable plastic products (needles and syringes) for infusion, transfusion, catheterisation, venipuncture and anaesthesia,
I.C.U. infusion and transfusion pumps, Infusion solutions and value added drugs, clinical nutrition.
Aesculap:
Surgical Instruments, Orthopaedic Instruments and Implants, Sutures, Neuro-endoscopy and Vascular Systems.
Renal:
Renal Dialysis machines, renal solutions and consumables plus B. Braun Avitum renal care service units with countrywide representation.
Outpatient Market:
Products tailored to the specific requirements of the outpatient market incorporating Wound Care products and Infection Control products
